Tournament Director, Frank Davis & Larry Keen referees, and Mary Davis, scorekeeper did a
fantastic job as usual.
We appreciate the planning and preparation that goes into this wonderful
checker tournament. The $2,960.00 cash prize, door prize merchandise from
Humboldt Merchants, and the Chamber of Commerce support was outstanding and
makes this one of the best tournaments on the circuit.
We had 27 players
from 9 states (11 Masters, 10 Majors, and 6 Minors) 11 from TN; 6 from KY;
3 from IL; 2 from GA; and 1 from OH, NC, LA, AL, & WV. Masters and Majors played seven rounds of Swiss pairing with
only the last round re-paired if necessary. The Minors played 5
rounds of Round-Robin, plus two rounds of Swiss.
Food was provided by local businesses each day, plenty of
fried chicken, hamburgers, BBQ, assortment of meats, cheeses, cakes, cookies,
& pies. We had over $500.00 of door prizes from local businesses.
A BIG Thank You to Larry Keen for all the hard work he put
into this tournament!
Lot of excellent talent in all three divisions, lunch and refreshments
served both days, and everyone enjoyed the
